Worried About Allergies And Asthma? 3 Reasons To Take Your Baby To The Pediatrician

Denise Moore

When you're a first-time parent, your entire life changes. In fact, your entire life becomes a new learning experience. This is especially true during those first few years. Some of the things you need to learn involve their health. When it comes to medical care, you have a schedule to follow for things like well-baby checkups and vaccinations. But there are other times when your baby will need to see the pediatrician. Unfortunately, when you're a new parent, you might not be able to identify those moments when pediatric care becomes crucial.

If asthma or allergies run in your family, your baby may also develop the same medical condition. If they do, they'll need medical care from their pediatrician. If you're not sure when to seek medical care, read the information provided below. If your baby develops any of the medical issues described here, visit a pediatrician as soon as possible.

Long-Lasting Allergy Symptoms

If your baby has developed a runny nose or is sneezing, you might think they just have a minor cold, especially if they haven't developed a fever. But that might not be the case. Sneezing and a runny nose might be the first indication that your baby has developed allergies. One way to identify allergies is to monitor the duration of cold symptoms. If your baby has been suffering from a runny nose or from sneezing and the symptoms won't go away, it's time to schedule an appointment with their pediatrician. They may have allergies.

Presence of New Asthma Symptoms

If your baby has been diagnosed with asthma, you need to monitor their symptoms. Your baby may have mild asthma symptoms right now, but that doesn't mean they'll stay that way. It's not uncommon for asthma symptoms to worsen as babies get older. If your baby's symptoms do worsen, you'll need to consult with their pediatrician right away. Some of the symptoms you need to watch for include shortness of breath, coughing, wheezing, or chest tightness.

Symptoms Consistent With Food Allergies

If you've just started your baby on solid foods, it's time to watch for food allergies. You might not know that your baby has food allergies right now, but that can change once you begin to introduce new foods to their diet. Now that you're introducing new foods, you need to be aware of the symptoms associated with food allergies. Some of those symptoms include redness, swelling, rashes, and stomach upset. If you notice any of these symptoms, contact your pediatrician immediately.

About Me
Working Together: Holistic and Traditional Combinations That Work

I am one of those people who hates going to the doctor. In the past, I have relied on everything from cranberry juice to apple cider vinegar to fix my ails. As I get older though, I find that I need to rely more on traditional medicine than I did in the past. What I found out from my doctor is that I did not have to give up the holistic medicines I used. I could combine them. This blog is designed to help others focus on how to combing holistic treatments with traditional medicine in a safe and fun way.
